You know we are a generation raised by Transformers. Why else would we try to build robots out of radios and TVs?
Aside from the genuine robots like Asimo, Aibo, and Scooba, I saw a number of bots at this year's CES that were more decorative than utilitarian. They are not hard-hitting news or breakthrough technology; they're more bots for bots' sake -- and plus they're fun to look at.
First up is GPX's Mulitmedia Kill-bot. Standing roughly nine feet tall, this bot is composed of a wide assortment of radios, portable TVs, and a larger LCD panel. When he's looming over you, it's easy to imagine him breaking free from his moorings and going berserk in the crowd, each of his victims witnessing his demise in the automaton's many screens.
Then there's the Audio-bot by the XM booth. He (I assume it’s a he) was made from boomboxes, an LCD panel, and speakers, and he's accompanied by a canine sidekick that I call L'il Woofer. Though I have to give L'il Woofer points for cuteness, GPX's Kill-bot makes a more impressive display.
