Creative Keys to a Musical House

Is there a budding musician in the family? You could soon have one with Creative's latest Prodikeys PC-Midi, an electronic keyboard that kids with and without musical knowledge would find fun. This U.S.-made version will hit the market this year with a new USB connection that hooks up to PCs and laptops, too.

Kids can learn music through easy-to-follow lessons and create and record their own musical mixes to save as WAV or MP3 files to send to friends. They can choose from the sounds of more than 100 instruments to create musical masterpieces.

A selling point for parents: It’s cheaper than music lessons. This plug-and-play music machine is reasonably priced at $49.99.

Does this work for those of us who are hideously tonedeaf? My kids are prodigies, but music is noticeably absent from my short list of multiple intelligences.
