Forget hybrids -- they're so 2005. After seeing the ZAP car at this year's CES, electric cars may be the newest hot ride of the future.
The ZAP (Zero Air Pollution) electric car is not only eco-friendly, but it’s been dubbed the “City Car” due its compact design which makes stop-and-go driving and parking a lot easier. The ZAP Xebra may not look very comfortable inside, but this three-wheeled car is ideal for short trips around town. This little tri-car is available in the U.S., and completely eliminates the need for gas by plugging into any conventional outlet. They are available in Lipstick Red, Ocean Blue and Kiwi Green, and can travel at the maximum speed of 40 miles per hour.
OK, so they're not designed for speed, but don’t you think our air quality is a lot more valuable?
Would I drive one? Absolutely, but it would have to be a second car until one of these puppies can travel at higher speeds. If you are a visitor at this year’s CES, you have a chance to win one of these cars by casting your vote for your favorite Innovations 2006 product.
So tell us what you think about the Xebra. Would you drive it or zap it?
